From my earliest childhood I attended church meetings and services with my family, usually about three times a week. I loved Jesus and was always searching for what I later would know to be the Christ, Truth.
In my later youth, my family moved from Scotland to America. In 1935, having married, I was expecting my first child. My husband and I were experiencing marital and financial problems, and I was generally very unhappy. I was still trying to find solace and joy in my religion but not meeting with success.
One afternoon I went for a walk and paid a visit to my favorite shop, a bakery, in the hopes that a little dessert would brighten my spirits.
