Before I began studying Christian Science in 1989, I was taking five different kinds of medicine daily. Then when I was diagnosed as having a life-threatening condition, my husband gave me the book Spiritual Healing in a Scientific Age by Robert Peel; this was the first material that I read concerning Christian Science. After reading the book with absorbing interest, I began reading Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, although I didn't understand much the first time through. I also attended church services regularly and subscribed to the Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal.

A Christian Science practitioner spent time answering my questions and calming my fears. He told me that as I began to experience God's healing power, I would learn to trust Him more and more.

Since then I have experienced many wonderful healings through prayer. First I was healed of all the conditions for which I was taking the medicine. I was no longer dependent on pills and took them no more. About one year later I became a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church.
