The first time I entered the local Christian Science church, I...
The first time I entered the local Christian Science church, I saw an inscription on the wall "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 494). I thought what a lovely sentiment it was, but I had seen lots of human needs that were not met, including my own.
After I'd attended that church for several months, the fact began to dawn on me that the statement was true, but that we had to reach out and claim Love's provision, which is already there. It is a bit like someone walking around destitute, cold, and hungry and not realizing that he or she had a fortune in a bank just waiting to be claimed.
One of my early healings involved claiming that Love's presence was right there to help me. I had placed a pan of fat and meat juices into the oven to heat up, and when I opened the oven the hot fat just exploded all over me. My face, arms, legs and feet all received a share. For a moment I stood there, and then in came all the pain.
