I had a wonderful physical healing in 1991
I had a wonderful physical healing in 1991. That spring I had been looking forward to beginning the gardening chores associated with my dried flower business. Then one morning I was suddenly taken seriously ill. I could not move my right leg or stand on it. I contacted relatives, who were able to provide prayerful support as well as physical assistance.
The next day my niece made arrangements for special transportation for me from my home in Maine to a Christian Science care facility in another state. During the trip I silently and vehemently held my thought to ideas about perfect God and perfect man. In prayer I identified myself as reflecting the seven synonyms for God, given in Christian Science: Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, Love. Many quotations from the Bible and Science and Health came to mind, which I knew from memory. This statement stood out to me: "Mind, supreme over all its formations and governing them all, is the central sun of its own systems of ideas, the life and light of all its own vast creation; and man is tributary to divine Mind" (Science and Health, p. 209). I was most grateful for a sense of peace on arrival at the facility; I had no fear.
In the following days I endeavored to gain a deeper sense of God's laws. I devoted my attention to prayer and study. Fresh flowers delivered to my room, as well as wheelchair rides to a beautiful rose garden, reminded me of the statement "The floral apostles are hieroglyphs of Deity" (ibid., p. 240).
