If December seems cold
There is a deeper joy, one that restores the warmth to home and heart.
December can be an especially lovely month. Christmas is being celebrated by many people, and the air is filled with a warmth not always found at other times of the year. If, however, we are faced with pain, sorrow, or lack, this season may appear to be more of an endurance test than a joy. The challenges may chill like a cold wind.
But when we ponder the message of hope and love that is what Christmas is really about, we see that the Christ, the true idea of divine Love, is present always and can help us now. God's love for man is here to meet all needs. Because God is the source of all good, His goodness is infinitely expressed to man. God gives, and man receives and expresses the goodness of God. We are His beloved children, and His is an uninterrupted love.
Even amid complex schedules and urgent demands we can turn trustingly to God. We can rejoice in His love for us and in our love for Him. He does hear our prayers. Gratitude for even the littlest sign of good helps us let more light into our thought. Problems may seem overwhelming and as solid as ice, but gratitude warms us with hope and breaks the illusion of doom. Discord melts before the light of Truth.
