About three years ago I was starting out for a bicycle ride, when a friendly neighborhood cat decided to run alongside. After a short time he suddenly took a turn toward the front of the bike, and I jammed on the brakes. The cat was not hit, but the sudden change in speed threw me into the handlebars with quite a force.
That evening I noticed a painful lump in the groin area. My wife and I both declared the spiritual truth that accidents are not real to God and cannot be real for His reflection, man. Man is not subject to discord or danger.
But as the difficulty didn't stop, I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful assistance. I studied many references in the Bible and in Mrs. Eddy's writings. The following statement from Science and Health stood out: "When an accident happens, you think or exclaim, 'I am hurt!' Your thought is more powerful than your words, more powerful than the accident itself, to make the injury real.
