Many years ago, a dentist told me that a spot on my face might be cancerous. I declared this to be false—it was not true about my identity as God's reflection. A Christian Science practitioner supported my growing understanding of this spiritual concept with prayer. She assured me that Mind, a synonym for God, is All and that in this allness there was nothing that could destroy the perfection of God's child. Her prayer was effective, and I was healed.
However, while I was taking class instruction in Christian Science (a most wonderful event in my life), the fear of cancer resurfaced. I endeavored to "weed out" all impurities in my own thought—concepts of myself as mortal and subject to disease. This prayer was blessed, and my fear of cancer faded.
Nevertheless, the healing was still not permanent. I needed to realize that once a spiritual fact is understood, it destroys error permanently. I then prayed to expose all possible immoral, impure, ungodlike thoughts and to replace them with their spiritual opposites. In other words, I cleaned my "mental house" entirely.
