Finding answers—and healing

Searching the Bible in the light of Christian Science helps us see the divine logic that resolves apparent contradictions.

I recall a period in my life in which my universe seemed to have very little in common with God's characterization of His universe as "very good," which we read about in the book of Genesis. I remember turning to the Lord's Prayer for answers. Almost immediately I zeroed in on Jesus' words "... deliver us from evil." Why in a universe that is "very good" would there be any need for deliverance?

At that time my lifestyle was less than perfectly moral. I remember once hoping that God couldn't see me, certain that if He could, He would have nothing to do with me. Although I had been living this way for several years, I had yearned for something better. In desperation, I returned to the Christian Science of my upbringing for direction.

I knew from my days in Sunday School that people routinely relied on the Bible for healing. When I did so, I saw only the contradiction I mentioned earlier. I wanted so desperately to find healing and felt that I would certainly have my answer if I faithfully continued to search the Bible.
