INSIDE: LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE

Is there a place for God amid the intensity that can often be a part of dating and relationships? Sometimes such intensity includes things we don't really want or need—things like jealousy, self-will, obsession, or just plain dissatisfaction. These can so cloud a person's thinking that clear, healthy perspectives are obscured.

Yet that emotional cloud thins and dissipates as we turn to God to discover more of who we truly are as His reflection. If our existence were essentially material and physical, we would be virtually helpless—entirely on our own. But each one of us is the child of God, divine Spirit. Our existence and identity are the expression of divine Spirit.

Is God, who is the source of our individuality, missing anything good? Is God missing joy, intelligence, fulfillment—qualities we may be looking to other people to bring to us? No. Divine Spirit is whole, complete in every way. We reflect God; and we each have everything we need in Him. We don't have to wait for someone else to bring us fulfillment. Moment by moment, we can appreciate the satisfaction and happiness God has already provided. Then we'll build better relationships. We'll be a better friend to others.
