INSIDE: LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE
Freedom is precious to everyone. Yet political liberty isn't the only kind of independence people hunger for. Independence from sickness, crime, financial problems, and domination is something people everywhere desire. But what is needed to bring about such radical change? The same thing required whenever independence is the goal. Revolution.
Of course, freedom from things like sickness and lack cannot come from howitzer barrages and guerrilla warfare. The kind of revolution called for is something that actually takes place in a person's thought, in how a person is thinking about his or her life. Can a revolution in someone's thinking truly make a difference? When someone rebels against the bondage of sin, sickness, and insufficiency with God-directed power, a transformation occurs. And with this spiritual revolution, independence and freedom naturally result.
"The awakening to a new, true view of man—and the desire to express our God-given individuality—are the beginning of our individual spiritual revolution," writes the author of the lead article in this week's Sentinel. And the first editorial discusses how being a Christian "freedom fighter" calls us "to take up spiritual arms through prayer" in helping the world discover genuine liberty.
