When I was a little girl, I had a chronic ear disease that would cause me to remain in bed for several days each year. And for years I used to wear a beret over my ear to protect it from the wind.
After I grew up and moved away from my home country, Holland, to work in England, the pain came back. I went to an ear specialist for an examination. When he had examined me, he said very compassionately, "You must have had a lot of earaches, because you have a hole in your ear!" He gave me eardrops, and the pain did not come back for many years.
Several years ago, however, the problem recurred. By then I had become a student of Christian Science, and I knew that the complete healing would come about through Christian Science, because I had gained an understanding of the healing power of the Christ. I also had become familiar with this sentence in the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: "Ears. Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding."
