It is out of gratitude for God's loving care that I submit this testimony.
One evening my nine-year-old stepson, Matt, ran face-first into a metal mailbox while he was riding his bicycle. When he came home I saw that he had facial cuts and swelling, and several teeth were loose. He was also in pain.
I immediately telephoned a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray with us. Matt's mother took care to clean his wounds. After only about five minutes, the pain and bleeding stopped, and Matt was able to rest quietly. His mother and I read the Lord's Prayer to him as well as the description of man from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. We concentrated on the spiritual truths we were reading, striving to really understand them. Science and Health states, "Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique." We knew Matt's true identity is man—God's idea—and that, in reality, he had never been subject to accident, hurt, or disorder of any kind.
