Finding our true home in God

Home is so much more than a place. It's a state of Mind, wherein spiritual qualities bless and sustain us.

Home . What a variety of pictures that one word can paint. To some, home is painted in warm colors portraying joy, comfort, love. To others, home is visualized in cold, harsh colors because their home was confining, abusive, restrictive. To still others, the canvas is blank. There would probably be as many different pictures of home as there are people.

Whether our human homes have been relatively happy or sad, and whether we are currently living in our "dream house," with all its conveniences, or in a very modest dwelling, we haven't really found true home until it is understood to be in Spirit, God. Until then our sense of home is like a castle in the sand, subject to all the chances and changes of material existence: fluctuating economy, changing jobs or relationships, natural disasters.

The Bible says that in God, Spirit, we "live, and move, and have our being." When we more clearly understand that home, like all that is enduring and real, is spiritual, we find a home that is built on a rock, secure and satisfying, which no material circumstance can touch.
