I became acquainted with Christian Science more than ten years ago. My mother had a friend who spoke to her about Christian Science and recommended that she talk with a Christian Science Practitioner. I met with this practitioner one day.

I told the practitioner I had a nasal allergy that did not allow me to breathe well and that no doctor had been able to find a solution for that problem. She said to me, "When you read this book, it is going to heal you." She was referring to the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which she gave to me. I don't remember if I read it all, but I know that I read quite a bit of it and was completely healed of the nasal allergy.

Another notable healing I had was when I began to attend a branch church with my wife and our two children, who at that time were very young. I had begun smoking a little when I married, and by that time I was unable to free myself from the cigarette habit through my own willpower. I knew that this habit was not in harmony with Christian Science. Then the branch church asked me to be the soloist on Sundays, which made me very happy, since I had studied singing in prior years. Before singing as the soloist I was completely healed of the desire to smoke. I never smoked again.
