Effective healing, effective care
"In different ages the divine idea assumes different forms, according to humanity's needs. In this age it assumes, more intelligently than ever before, the form of Christian healing. This is the babe we are to cherish. This is the babe that twines its loving arms about the neck of omnipotence, and calls forth infinite care from His loving heart."
—Mary Baker Eddy
(Miscellaneous Writings, p. 370)
When someone is not well, he or she sometimes needs special and practical care. The assistance provided by a Christian Science nurse is evidence of this cherishing of the "babe of Christian healing." In an age in which medical modes of practice are so prevalent, great care is needed to emphasize the utterly spiritual nature of Christian healing. Christian Science nursing requires spiritual maturity and practical experience. Nurses and the various organizations that have been formed to provide Christian Science nursing need the freedom to devote undivided attention to this work.
