I have been healed many times through the teachings of Christian Science since I commenced attending a Christian Science Sunday School in my teens. One of these healings occurred when I injured my foot severely.

I was reclining on the bed when the doorbell rang. I jumped up quickly to answer it, and my foot struck a solid piece of furniture. There was intense pain, and I lay back on the bed unable to use the foot. Quickly I commenced to marshal my thoughts, because I have learned, through studying Christian Science, that it is very important to control our thoughts when we need a physical healing. Silently I reminded myself that I had learned from the Bible and from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, that my real, spiritual identity could not experience an accident. I was grateful to know this.

The pain eased, and I was able to answer the door. I continued to pray and was able to go to my employment in the evening. The next day I was walking better, but a friend who is a medical nurse gave her opinion that there was probably a broken bone in the foot. I have great respect for my dear friend and we spoke happily, but I kept my thought clear that in reality God made me whole and perfect in His likeness and keeps me whole and perfect.
