Sharing: not dividing good but discovering it

Have you ever thought about the fragrance of a rose or of honeysuckle? Everyone who passes by has the opportunity to enjoy it. When the plant gives off its aroma, it doesn't specify who can enjoy the smell or how much each person can have. All have equal use and joy of the lovely scent.

Isn't that what sharing is all about? We don't practice our Christianity selectively and share just with those we hold near and dear. We let our light shine brightly and send out our love to all who wish to avail themselves of it.

Sharing is also receiving love. As we grow spiritually, we find that we have to let others love us too. To me, Christ Jesus' parable of the landowner See Matt. 20:1–15. illustrates an important point in spiritual sharing. The Bible tells us that the landowner paid everyone a full day's wages whether that person started in the morning and worked all day or came at the eleventh hour and worked only one hour. Human sharing might imply dividing, but God, Love, cannot be divided any more than the fragrance from the honeysuckle and the rose can be divided. There is no division, no limited apportionment, in Love's giving of all good to all mankind.
