"Examination of An Alternative Approach to Nursing: The Christian Science Nurse" by Noreen C. Frisch, Ph.D., R.N.
"This article examines Christian Science (CS) nursing as an alternative approach to nursing practice. ... An understanding of the work and practice of CS nurses suggests numerous interventions for the practice of other nurses in traditional, biomedical practice.
"A Christian Science nurse is a Church member who has completed an extensive training program and is accredited by the Church to provide nursing care in the context of the denomination's spiritual healing practice. A Christian Science nurse is not a 'Registered Professional Nurse' in any state; both the training and practice are outside the jurisdiction of State licensing bodies and State Boards of Nursing.
