I was raised in a loving family of Christian Scientists and attended Christian Science Sunday School. The lessons taught to me from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy laid the foundation on which I have relied for guidance, protection, and healing throughout my life.
Two years ago, when our family was returning by car from a trip, we stopped at a roadside area to relax and let the children cool down in a nearby stream. As we were about to leave, I reached behind my seat to retrieve an item and inadvertently caught my hand in a fan that I had set up to keep the children cool. The pain was intense.
I asked my wife to help me, and she spoke to me with such strong conviction of God's love and control that my concern about the possible loss of a finger was quieted and I immediately became receptive to spiritual truths.
