My paternal grandmother became interested in Christian Science...
My paternal grandmother became interested in Christian Science and took class instruction in Christian Science in the early 1900s. She raised my father in Science.
My parents' first child, when an infant, became seriously ill. The doctor's diagnosis was brain fever, for which he knew of no cure. Also he predicted that if the child did recover, he would never be "right" mentally. Grandmother and my father encouraged Mother to agree to having a Christian Science practitioner pray for the child. She did so, and the baby was healed very quickly. He enjoyed a healthy childhood, was an "above average" student, and later raised three sons of his own. After my brother's healing, my mother became a sincere student of Christian Science.
The foundation I gained from attending a Christian Science Sunday School, along with my parents' spiritual guidance, was an invaluable help in making friends, in finding homes and jobs, and in knowing right from wrong.
