Maintaining a marriage
Somehow the subject of marriage came up, and the woman customer said to the young bank clerk serving her, "Are you married?"
"No, I'm not, and I'm not going to get married. There's something wrong with marriage. It only ends in divorce. All my friends, one after another, are getting divorced."
As the woman left the bank, she remembered when her own marriage had gone so wrong, and the only answer seemed to be to find freedom in divorce. They had started out with so much joy and hope—such a feeling of fulfillment—and real love. And then she realized her husband was an alcoholic.
