Unbinding self—encircling the world
Because the water seeped right through
I knew
the plants were needing larger pots.
There grew
the roots in circles 'round and 'round,
root-bound.
Has your existence grown too
self-entwined?
A search, like mine, for comfort;
or did you find
that acquisition (though unplanned) became
your aim?
To change old patterns let us
start anew,
and listen well to learn what
we can do
to help a world in need of
Christlike deed.
Our prayers become mankind-encircling
praise,
and leave behind those selfish ways.
Our days
will have more room to bloom, and yes,
to bless.
