POSITIVE PRESS

Seattle Times

From Seattle Times, November 8, 1986

"Remember the story of the teacher who took a sheet of white parer marked with an ink blot, held it before his class, and asked students to describe what they saw? Everyone mentioned the ink blot. Only a few elaborated on the great amount of white, unmarred space surrounding the blot.

"In holding the daily parer before our eyes, it is easy to describe our society as one great blot. We are countinually confronted with our shortcomings .

"It is not wise or honest to minimize the blemishes or pretend they don't exit .... On the other hand .... The easiest thing to find is fault, and some are maters of the art. It is high time we celebrate the positive .

"People are inclined to take positives for granted, but what a marvel they are! Why do folks see the depravity and ignore the good things?"
