I have experienced many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science during my lifetime. These include healings of influenza, laryngitis, bursitis, cuts and burns, as well as many others.

A healing of a cyst on one eye, which took place several years ago, continues to give me inspiration and encouragement when I'm faced with other challenges. As I endeavored to keep my thought "in the secret place of the most High" (Ps. 91:1), the healing took place beautifully and naturally within a very short time. The cyst opened and drained painlessly when the angel message came to me clearly and distinctly that "God's child can experience only a growth in grace."

A more recent healing was of an insect bite that appeared to be quite poisonous. As I was getting into the car to take care of an errand I felt a stinging sensation on one of my knees. When it persisted I glanced at the knee, which was swollen and discolored by this time, and saw an unusual-looking insect embedded in the knee. Immediately the account of Paul's experience with a poisonous viper came to thought. The Bible states (Acts 28:5), "And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm." Beyond the literal meaning, I understood this to mean that Paul shook the suggestion of evil completely out of his thought and into the fire of nothingness to be destroyed. I knew this was possible for me, as well.
