I Wish to express my deepest gratitude for Christian Science

I Wish to express my deepest gratitude for Christian Science. I was raised in a family of dedicated Christian Scientists. However, while I was a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, I never fully appreciated this wonderful teaching.

After my marriage to a man of a different faith, I did not pursue the study of Science. Later we moved to another state. There was no branch church in the small town where we lived, so along with my husband I joined a church of another denomination. After several years I began to feel a restlessness, although at that time everything was going well—three beautiful children; a good, kind husband; and a wonderful, fulfilling job. We attended church regularly, yet there was a definite void in my life.

Periodically, I pulled my books (the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy) down from the shelf and read and studied a little, but I felt I did not have enough faith to follow the teachings of Christian Science. I had witnessed numerous healings, and I had experienced healings myself through the prayerful work of my parents or my grandmother, who was a Christian Science practitioner. Still, I wondered if something really bad should happen to one of my children, could I possibly have the courage to turn to Christian Science for healing? Such nagging doubts stayed with me for several years.
