Perfect timing

As we learn to listen for God's direction, we can move through our days without wasted time or energy.

During the early morning and evening hours the crew shells glide up and down the river not far from my home. The rowers are a vision of rhythm, grace, and complete synchronization. All action is finely tuned with no extraneous movement, no excess of any kind.

Watching crew teams is always an inspiration to me. The rowers have their oars precisely coordinated, their strokes timed to perfection. The unity is a marvel to behold as all hands pull together, working toward the same goal.

It occurred to me not long ago, while watching them, that every detail of our lives can reflect this same kind of flow and precision. We need not be harried by delay, by conflicting schedules, or by missed opportunities. The teachings of Christian Science show us that our lives are not governed by fate, nor are we wandering precariously through existence, watching events come about as a result of happenstance.
