Early morning prayer
This morning he hopped
on the bus
and
red stocking cap bobbing
turned and blew me a kiss.
It's the first time this year
he's thought about
saying goodbye when he leaves.
I wanted to run after the bus
and get him—
tell the driver
he's too precious,
too innocent
to be in the world
and I'd better keep him home with me.
Then I remembered
that Your love takes him on his way,
holding his hand.
Keep him safe on this journey, Father.
Let Your love fill his heart
and Your joy be his guide.
Thank you again
for this child of Spirit,
for this innocence, freshness, and light.
Thank you for showing us Mind's
pure expression.
(Yes, I saw the trust in his eyes!)
