Use your spiritual assets
The tough challenges in business demand the insight and creativity that come from divine inspiration.
What can a person running a business do if faced with imminent failure because of insufficient working capital? Guidance from banks or business consultants may be helpful. But maybe there's a need to redirect one's whole view of what a business should represent. What if one's real mission is service to mankind and activity that glorifies God?
"The Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding," Prov. 2:6. the Scriptures declare. And through studying the Bible along with the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, many business people have learned of a form of capital more important than money: the qualities of God expressed by the individual or individuals who make up a business. For example, shouldn't God-derived love for mankind be the real drive behind the desire to make a genuinely better product or to provide an honest, needed service? This motivation is in sharp contrast to the common, overriding desire merely to make money or the urge to build an impressive structure of assets and power. The qualities of God one needs in business include intelligence, wisdom, spiritual discernment, justice, integrity, order, creativity, spiritual understanding, stability, and, as we've seen, love. Also needed is a willingness to pray, to listen for God's direction.
The fact is, God's qualities are already ours because each of us is in reality God's spiritual reflection. As His sons and daughters we can never lose these qualities. But the human being does need to realize this, claim the divine nature as his own, and patiently strive to express it.
