How does this happen,
this expression of pure joy,
for all that God is?
It appears in a rush of words ...
but that is merely effect.
Long before,
and deep within the heart,
an undeniable, sweet response to God,
to the dawning awareness
of some immeasurable good,
emerges as a hymn of praise,
repeats itself ...
and a grateful prayer is formed.
First cherished within—
and as one's own—
the joy soon
breaks the surface
bursts forth,
and floods the page.
