Christian Science has been a great help to me and has enabled me to spiritualize my thought. With this teaching I have learned how to defend myself daily against the suggestions that there is a power apart from God capable of taking away one's peace.

In my work in a machine shop for over thirty-six years, I have had to challenge from time to time the human belief in the eventual necessity of accidents. One day while I was testing a prototype pump jack to be used out in the oil field, the jack tipped over and fell on my foot. Knowing that God's man is governed by the unerring, unchanging, divine Principle, I was able to complete the day free from discomfort. The next morning company officials would not believe that my foot was unhurt until I removed my shoe and proved it.

At another time an understanding of the truths of Christian Science protected me when a large metal cabinet containing tool-grinding attachments and electric motors fell on me as it was being moved by a forklift. When the cabinet fell, I was pinned to the floor under its great weight, most of which settled on my right leg.
