The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, states (p. 390), "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony." The following are several examples of healing that came about as the result of a better understanding of God's goodness and His love for us, His children.

When our daughter was younger, the bottoms of her feet were covered with plantar warts, which caused her a great deal of embarrassment as well as discomfort. A neighbor told us about the warts she had had surgically removed, only to have them return in even greater number. After hearing this report, I began to pray with new vigor, asking the Father for spiritual insight.

As I prayed I realized that I needed to see our daughter as pure, loving, and kind, reflecting divine Love, rather than as selfish, willful, or "hard," an image of girls that seemed popular at that time. As I really prayed to see that her true nature as God's beloved spiritual child naturally included purity and love, all signs of the false character traits just fell away. Our daughter became more compassionate and thoughtful, and with this beautiful expression of goodness came two perfectly healed feet. How thankful we were for the character changes and the healing.
