Growing up in a family of Christian Scientists taught me from early childhood to turn to God for an understanding of my spiritual wholeness as His child. Through a conscious effort to gain a deeper understanding of my relationship to God through the study of Science, I have experienced healings of chronic colds, severe headaches, ear infection, warts, ill temper, jealousy, self-conscious timidity, and sorrow. And the joy of marrying a devoted Christian Scientist and raising three children with reliance on Science for healing has been for me a source of great conviction and confidence.

A few years ago, I was guiding a heavy cartload of firewood down a hill on our property when my foot twisted sharply, and my full weight came down on the foot as I stumbled. The pain was severe.

For a period of time there was swelling and evidence of torn ligaments. By searching deeply in prayer, I gained clearer glimpses of my true spiritual selfhood as God's child safely in His perfect care.
