Learning how much God loves us
I was taking a taxi home the other day, and the friendly driver wanted to know what had brought me to the United States. As we passed The Christian Science Publishing Society, I told him I was working there, for the Church's religious periodicals.
He asked, "Don't you have to be very clever to be a Christian Scientist ... to understand all that reading and Bible teaching?" I found myself saying, "Not really; you know, even the youngest children in Sunday School can begin to understand Christian Science. There are just two things you have to know to start off with—how much God loves you, and how much you love God."
He was silent for a moment; then he said quietly, "You know, ma'am, no one has ever told me before how much God loves me. Thank you for that." I was able to share a few more thoughts on God's love for us; then we arrived at my home, and he thanked me again, and went on his way.
