A healing that has always stood out to me occurred when I was a member of a Christian Science college organization. I woke one morning feeling very ill. There was a lecture that I felt was essential for me to attend. So with difficulty I made my way to the classroom, where I waited, perspiring and shaking.

The few minutes' wait before the lecture gave me another opportunity to turn my thoughts to God and to affirm my true nature as His perfect, spiritual child. As I did so, I realized that because this was the fact of the situation, any evidence of sickness must be false now. As we read in Christian Healing by Mrs. Eddy (p. 17), "Sin, sickness, and death are error; they are not Truth, and therefore are not true." At that very instant I found myself entirely well.

While I was serving in the British Army in the Second World War, I had another healing that taught me a useful lesson. On one occasion a sore place developed on one of my feet, making it intensely painful to walk. Because I could not fulfill my duties properly, I obeyed regulations and reported to the medical officer. At the same time I realized the need for more thorough prayer.
