Energy for life's work

Spiritual vitality assures us of the energy we need to do our tasks with joy.

How to sustain a demanding schedule these days and not get worn down by it is a question that more and more people are facing. Leading a super-busy life day after day not only may sap a person's energy and productivity, it may take the joy right out of what he or she is doing.

This was what threatened to happen to me last year when I was asked to take on some special work. While delighted at this opportunity to be even more useful, deep down I wasn't sure I'd have the stamina to take care of two careers plus home and personal responsibilities. But this step seemed progressive so I accepted.

For the first few months I coped fairly well. Then I began to find myself feeling worn out at the end of the day, flinging myself on the sofa when I got home. After several nights of severe fatigue I knew it was time to address this problem in a higher, a spiritual, way. I just couldn't afford to lose my vitality and joy at five thirty. I needed to stay fresh and alert for my evening's work. So I turned to Christ, Truth, for help.
