In 1969 my husband and I sold our farm in England

In 1969 my husband and I sold our farm in England. This was done much against my desire in order to live on a boat in the Mediterrranean. Along with suffering seasickness even in the calmest weather, I was afraid to be out of sight of land, lacked confidence in our seamanship, and felt deep sorrow after selling our home and most of our possessions.

To overcome these difficulties I prayed and studied Christian Science earnestly to gain an understanding of the dominion God has given man, His image. Hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal were frequently in my thoughts. I began to realise that because we are truly His children, we are always in the presence of divine Love; we are always "at home," for true home is spiritual. We can never be separated from our heavenly Father nor be out of His loving care. I also remembered that, according to the Bible, "the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters" (see Gen. 1:2). I reasoned that the waters need not be viewed as dangerous; we can enjoy the waves wisely without fear.

With my growing confidence, all evidence of seasickness ceased. I no longer worried over being out of sight of land, for I realised that God, divine Mind, knows no limiting horizon and that man is never separated from God's tangible goodness. I began to enjoy the new experiences.
