God's love isn't hidden away
Usually, before we reach for anything, we want to be sure it is there. Before we're willing to look for God, or turn to Him, we want to know something about Him—especially that He cares for us.
Then the question is, How do we learn about God and His fatherly, motherly goodness? The way that has worked for me is to study the Bible along with the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. These books tell us that God's love is always near to guide and protect us.
Sometimes I need healing because something is physically wrong. Like the time I hurt my ankle while playing racquetball. I kept right on playing ball because I felt sure that God is the only Life. I had learned from my study of the Bible that "the Father hath life in himself." John 5:26. The quotation reads: "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself." I knew that no harm could come to me as God's child. Before the game was over, my ankle felt normal. I even won that game—which was nice but nothing near as special as feeling God's love for me.
