Some years ago while I was walking on the beach with a friend who was not interested in Christian Science, I inadvertently stepped on a nail sticking out of a board. (I had sneakers and socks on.) My friend was behind me and did not realize what had happened, and I did not tell him.
When we got back to the cottage I felt I needed the help of a Christian Science practitioner, so I called one, who agreed to pray for me. Although the next morning there was some swelling, I was able to wear my sneaker, and I am grateful to say that the healing was complete within a few days.
At another time, while I was at the office one day I suddenly became dizzy and had to hold on to the furniture to keep my balance. I called a practitioner for help, and within half an hour I felt free. When this condition returned a few more times, however, I felt that I could pray for myself. I affirmed man's God-given dominion, as stated in Genesis (1:26). Certain hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal were also helpful.
