MY PRAYER
Once I prayed,
"Make me fast and swift,
Lord, like the gazelle.
Let me dazzle like
the jeweled peacock.
Give me the strong and
fearless step of the tiger."
Now I pray, "Help me
be patient Lord.
Humble me,
make me tortoise-meek.
Teach me beauty in
the simple joy
of a sparrow's song.
Make me to know
strength,
in the guileless step
of the
tiniest sheep."
