Faith underground
(Thinking about those who
continue to love God
no matter what circumstances
they find themselves in)
Father, let us
show our worthiness
to be
true brothers
to these the faithful
world over
whose lamps
are trimmed
and burning,
for nothing can
quench
their steadfastness—
indeed
confinement, brutality
cannot erase
the beauty
of Your
ever-presence.
Dear Father-Mother,
reveal such quality of prayer
in us
that we may
treasure the faithful
in our hearts
and cherish for them
as well as
for all
the right to worship
freely
in undisturbed praise.
