When our daughter was a child, she had what doctors declared was an incurable kidney disease. She soon passed the point of no return, we were told, and doctors said they could do nothing more for her. So we brought her home—and prayed.
While I was praying, it came to me that God could not know incurability, or if He could, He would not be the God I wanted to worship. "Well," I thought, "where does that leave us, and how do we communicate with God?" The answer, of course, was prayer. But what sort of prayer? Why hadn't our petitions been answered?
It was at this stage that a kind friend introduced us to Christian Science. She urged us to write to the Christian Science Reading Room in the nearest city (many miles away), adding, "And don't worry about that little girl. She will recover."
