My mother became interested in Christian Science in 1914
My mother became interested in Christian Science in 1914. But my sister and I never went to Sunday School, because my father was opposed to Science. Eventually, however, when my father saw what Science had done for Mother, his opposition melted away. He became interested himself and attended church regularly.
Although I experienced healings through my mother's prayers, I did not take up the study of Christian Science myself till 1929, as I thought this study would take something away from me. (I came to realize that learning more of divine Love never takes anything good from us, for it actually makes us aware of good and therefore can only bless us.)
Indeed, Science has blessed me throughout the years. I've been in good health, and any complaints, including toothache, painful stiffness, and colds, have been healed through trust in spiritual Truth. A small growth on one of my fingers disappeared when I realized this spiritual fact (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, pp. 310–311): "There is neither growth, maturity, nor decay in Soul. These changes are the mutations of material sense, the varying clouds of mortal belief, which hide the truth of being."
Christian Science took on new meaning for me when my children were small. One of my daughters was born prematurely, and the doctor in attendance pronounced her stillborn. However, the midwife who was present (it was a home birth) got in touch with the practitioner who was helping me and informed her of the situation. The baby revived less than an hour after the birth. (My testimony of this experience was published in The Christian Science Journal of June 1954.)
Another daughter, when an infant, had severe diarrhea. I called a practitioner, and the healing came so quickly that my faith in God's power was greatly increased. Later on, as a teen-ager, this daughter was healed of a plantar wart. At first she chose to have medical treatment, and so went to a chiropodist. But this treatment failed to dislodge the wart. Then the chiropodist went on a holiday. While she was away and no material means were being used, my daughter was willing for me to pray for her. One morning I got such a clear glimpse of real selfhood as spiritual—as God's reflection. It did not seem surprising when a short time later the wart dissolved entirely.
With regard to finances and finding the right house, as a result of prayer, the truth of these words has been proved over and over again in our lives (Science and Health, p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
More than a year ago I became ill. As I live alone, my part-time housekeeper stayed with me and accompanied me to several Wednesday testimony meetings. Coming home after one meeting, she asked me why I had not given "thanks to the Lord for my recovery," because I had been healed. She said that she had been telling her family how well I had recovered without taking medicine.
This testimony gives me a welcome opportunity to thank the Lord for this and for all the blessings the study of Christian Science has brought—and is bringing—me and mine and all mankind.

I have pleasure in confirming the healing of the wart as described in my mother's testimony.

I do remember telling my family how sick Mrs. Bakke was. She only believed and trusted God to do the healing. That is why I told her to testify that God really healed her.
