My mother became interested in Christian Science in 1914
My mother became interested in Christian Science in 1914. But my sister and I never went to Sunday School, because my father was opposed to Science. Eventually, however, when my father saw what Science had done for Mother, his opposition melted away. He became interested himself and attended church regularly.
Although I experienced healings through my mother's prayers, I did not take up the study of Christian Science myself till 1929, as I thought this study would take something away from me. (I came to realize that learning more of divine Love never takes anything good from us, for it actually makes us aware of good and therefore can only bless us.)
Indeed, Science has blessed me throughout the years. I've been in good health, and any complaints, including toothache, painful stiffness, and colds, have been healed through trust in spiritual Truth. A small growth on one of my fingers disappeared when I realized this spiritual fact (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, pp. 310–311): "There is neither growth, maturity, nor decay in Soul. These changes are the mutations of material sense, the varying clouds of mortal belief, which hide the truth of being."
