The ultimate answer to the plaintive "Why?"
When people investigate Christian Science, they soon learn that it uniquely teaches the goodness of God, infinite Spirit or Mind. They discover that the uniqueness of Science lies in its explanation of God's allness. And this involves the inevitable conclusion that material appearances are false, an illusion, and no part of the immortal, spiritual creation of God, which includes His likeness, man.
Then, following the age-old pattern of evil's claim to be the actual opposite of good, a question may arise. Mocking the newfound understanding that has unfolded, evil may suggest, "Why, then, are we here—in mortality?"
This question need not be allowed to block the progress in Christian rebirth that begins when the truth of Science is glimpsed. Evil's claim to oppose good is, in fact, already exposed as a sham by the teaching and proof of our Master, Christ Jesus.
