Start demonstrating eternal Life now!

Is immortality something only dreamers spend time on? Or are there practical benefits to understanding eternal Life?

The Bible has many references to "eternal life." So does Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. And in my study of these books I had always accepted the fact that spiritual life was indeed eternal. In other words, that in man's real being as a child of God, he had existed "before the world was" John 17:5. and would never die. This was a given. Yet while I never questioned it, neither had I made this truth my own. For me it was just a lovely ethereal concept that had no immediate relevance to my everyday existence. Unless I was challenged by a so-called life-threatening situation, I would not need to explore it further. So I thought.

Then one day while I was studying the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I came upon a passage I had read many times before. This time, however, it shone with new light. "Life is eternal," Science and Health states. "We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof." Science and Health, p. 246.

Never had I seen the passage as such a clear command from the Discoverer of Christian Science to all who read her book. "Find this out." "Begin the demonstration." Mrs. Eddy didn't say just to keep this comforting truth in the back of our minds to use when we felt threatened with dying—but begin to demonstrate it. To me, this meant now!
