"Coloring in" heaven
Is your heaven colorless? For a lot of people, heaven apparently is. They think of it, if they think of it at all, as a place where you're supposed to want to be but probably would rather not be—at least not for any stretch of time misnamed "eternity"! This so-called heaven lacks all the richness and color of earth. It's inhabited by transparent, blissful beings who "know" but may not feel very much.
No wonder we don't particularly want to be there. Even those who aren't clinging to some obvious sins of the flesh still might reasonably wonder about giving up the tangible good in human experience for something that seems so nebulous.
Of course, it isn't just a concept of heaven about which people feel this way. Any spiritual reality may seem colorless in comparison with the world the physical senses tell us about —this world which is material and mortal yet often heartrendingly beautiful and appealing.
