As a child I attended a Christian Science Sunday School but did...
As a child I attended a Christian Science Sunday School but did not rely completely on the teachings of this Science. As a young mother, however, I deeply wanted my children to have only the best, and to me that meant Christian Science. My husband was not a Scientist at that time, though, so when our six-month-old daughter became very ill late one evening, we called a pediatrician.
After examining the baby, he diagnosed the trouble as tonsillitis and told us we should keep a record of the illness because it would recur. Immediately my Sunday School training came back to me. I realized that this baby's true nature was the innocent child of God, His image and likeness, and that I did not have to accept sickness.
I told my husband later that I would like to call a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. He readily agreed, and the practitioner began to pray for the baby. The child was quickly healed through prayer alone, and this healing has been permanent.
