Books, and learning from them, have been dear to me since...
Books, and learning from them, have been dear to me since childhood. Early on, I just loved the printed page. Thus books became my good friends. Through them I learned the English language on my own. The ability to read books in English helped me increase the circle of my friends, until one day Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was placed in my hands by a kind friend.
That was a turning point in my life. My search for better books ended there. Since that time Science and Health and the Bible have been my best friends, and they have never failed me.
When I began reading Science and Health, I was thrilled with what it taught me of my true spiritual selfhood and of my inseparable relationship to God. I learned that man, my real nature, is the good, pure, loving, and complete idea of God. I could not read a single page of this book without many tears of joy rolling down my cheeks. Such was the boundlessness of my gratitude for what Science and Health offered me.
