"On a scale of one to ten..."

Evaluating, prejudging, and comparing things has always been popular. "How does it rate on a scale of one to ten?" we ask about everything from movies to college programs.

We may even be tempted to use this scale to rate a demonstration of God's healing power. For example, at times we may become almost apologetic about giving gratitude for a "small" healing.

I recall one day when I went out to lunch with another young mother. After chatting about many things, she suddenly said, "I know you are a Christian Scientist. Tell me something about it." You can imagine my joy over this request, and I began to tell her something of what I'd learned through this Science of the practical spiritual truths of the Bible, particularly the teachings of Christ Jesus.
