As a child I was raised in a loving religious family, and I regularly attended a Protestant Sunday School. But during my high-school years I found myself doubting God's existence.
Then a marvelous incident occurred. When I was a senior in college a friend shared the details of a physical healing she had had by relying exclusively on God. Her explanation of God's nature sounded wonderful to me. She told me she was a Christian Scientist, and she explained that I could learn more about God by reading the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
So that's what I began to do, and what wonderful new feelings of trust and love for God developed! Mrs. Eddy's use of synonyms for God in Science and Health opened up new vistas of exploration of God's nature to me. (These synonyms are included in Mrs. Eddy's definition of God found on page 465 of Science and Health.)
