Strength from daily spiritual study

In 1895 Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, ordained the Bible and her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as the pastor over The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist. Manual of The Mother Church, Art. XIV, Sect. 1 . This revolutionary decision was instrumental in guaranteeing the continued purity of the teachings of Christian Science. The weekly Bible Lesson, The Bible Lessons are found in the Christian Science Quarterly. consisting of passages from both of these books, brings a uniform pastoral message to all branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world. Wherever this message is read, the hearer receives an inspired sermon.

In addition to hearing the pastoral message on Sunday, one has the opportunity to study it daily. And this study sets a spiritual standard for each day's activities and feeds us with divine truths.

The underlying reality taught in the lesson is the nature of God and man, of our true being as the child of God, perfect and unlimited. Christian Science practice demands spiritual regeneration—the removal of evil and mortality from our thought and lives through an understanding and demonstration of man's oneness with God. Our prayerful study enables us to do this—to rely on God, divine Mind, in all our various human endeavors.
